Monkeyshines, No. 1 is a short silent film made in 1889 or 1890 by William K.L. Dickson and William Heise. It was created at Edison Manufacturing Company located in West Orange, New Jersey which is now called Thomas Edison National Historic Park. It was originally filmed outside the ore-milling outhouse (building 4) at the original Edison Laboratory.

The film is only a few seconds long and shows a blurry figure in white standing in one place making large gestures. Scholars have differing opinions on whether the first film was shot in June 1889 starring Fred Ott or at some time between November 21–27, 1890 starring Giuseppe Sacco Albanese. Both worked at the Edison Laboratories. The film's two sequels were made the same year.

Monkeyshines, No. 1 was made to test the original cylinder format of the Kinetoscope, a device that allowed people to view moving images. The film was not intended for commercial release, but it is now considered to be a historical artifact.
